What To Do When the Heat Goes Out03/08/2017Call it Murphy’s Law, or maybe just a little unluckiness, but we sometimes see heat pump issues in Greencastle during the winter time, when they’re necessary to keep you comfortable. While you know the team at Premier HVAC Services LLC will constantly be there ASAP when you need us for a heat pump repair, there are some things you can do to confirm that a repair is important and save yourself some money if it’s not. We’ve collected this checklist of things to attempt before you give us a call. It may sound silly, but make sure everything is switched “on”. We’ve been to several calls only to realize the thermostat or the heat pump itself is turned off. Check your thermostat to guarantee it’s on, switched to the appropriate temperature and isn’t switched to cool. Then try replacing the battery, if it has one. If everything looks correct, check your furnace switch (check your manual if you’re hesitant about where it is) and test your fuses and circuit breaker. Confirm that your gas is on. If the furnace still hasn’t kicked on, go back to your thermostat. If it’s a programmable model, make sure it’s displaying the correct time. If it thinks it’s morning when it’s actually night, it may not turn your heat on because it doesn’t know you’re home. Is an impasse causing your furnace to fail? Check your air filters to confirm they’re not jamming things up. Do you have any blocked ducts, vents or cool air intakes? Are all supply registers exposed? Is your exhaust flue open? If you’ve worked through this checklist and you’re still lacking heat, call Premier HVAC Services LLC at 717-597-9900 or arrange an appointment online and we’ll get your home back to the warm and cozy place it should be.
